Every year, millions of migrating birds lose their lives by flying into windows. We’ve become accustomed to this as an acceptable side effect of modern living. Last week, in a mass death event in Philadelphia, over a thousand songbirds perished as they shattered into buildings. This poem explores that event, our numbness to ecological destruction, and the possibility that our planet is speaking back to us.
